2012: We Dougie & Berni would like to say a 'special thanks' to two special people. Chris at TonicWebWorks.com. for building us a this wonderful website. Also our own web manager Bill Jewkes has been working with Chris and between them both and a little help from myself of course
we now have a great site. They both donated their time and effort free of charge and continue to monitor and run the site. You are two very sepcial people and we thank you both. You did and are doing a fantatic job. Well done!!
2011:This has been a fantastic year we have done so well with goods donations from Gap, Next, Freegle, Netmums, friends and family who have all been collecting for us throughout the year. Our knitters Dorothy, Kate and the team have completed a total of 50 beautiful coloured blankets for the Dimcho and have already started on some for the baby orphanages for 2012. We also had fantastic support at our Garden Party on 1st Oct 2012. The funds raised on the day plus the funds from 2010 were put together and went toward a new roof for the Dimcho. Now the children are safe and warm at the Dimcho. The orphanage is looking so much brighter and homely now compared to our first visit in 2008.
We have made lots of new friends in the UK and in Bulgaria. Now have a circle of knitters in Bulgaria. Sue & Dave also did a karaoke fundraiser in Dec which was amazing and the funds they raised, they took to the orphanage and gave this to the director. These funds will go toward the holiday we hope to send the children on this year. Special thanks to all our volunteers and supporter and sponsors you are all just brilliant! There are too many supporters to mention but thank you all for your continual help and support we really could not do this without you guys.
Dougie and I, Berni would like to say a ‘Huge Thanks’ to all you wonderful people who have help us to achieve our goal again this year. Thanks to all our helpers in Bulgaria Bill & Sue our volunteers on the book swap stall, Bill and Chris our web designers, Nellie & Sergin our translators. You have all been just super and we really could not have done it without you. Thanks also to everyone else who has helped. You have all been just fantastic! Thanks a million times over. We will soon be starting our fundraising for our next trip in 2011 for the transport costs. We will of course be needing products, so I am hoping you will all help us again for 2011. If you can help please let us know.
2009/10: One of our biggest donators so far, is GL Events Snowdens of Peterborough. Keith Bishop did not hesitate to donate a 40ft square ex hire marquee to the children so they could have a place of their own to relax, socialise, study and perform their folklore concerts. We Berni and Dougie, the director, the staff and the children would like to say a huge thanks to Keith of GL Events Snowden for this most wonderful donation, it will make such a big difference to the life of the children.
2009/2010: Our Shoebox Appeal - We put a Shoebox Appeal on Freecycle/Netmums asking people if they could help fill a shoebox for a child in the Orphanage. We had one response a little boy named Jordan from Bretton, Peterborough who made this his special project and started his collection. Months later we had a telephone call from his grandparents to say that the shoebox is ready for collection. It is just lovely. We were so moved. Jordan is an 8 year old boy and he had thought of everything. He even decorated the box with cars and stars stickers and even marked it for a boy age 8. He secured it with an elastic band. In the box Jordan put a car, a bus, an England football shorts and top and a bag, stationery, activity books, skipping rope, filled a pencils case with lots of goodies, a batman mug, a ball, toothbrush and paste and all sorts of stuff. It’s just wonderful and all this was his own idea, what a wonderful caring, and considerate little boy he is. He is a credit to his parents and grandparents. Thank you so much Jordan for all the effort you put into filling our very first shoebox. It is exactly what one little boy would want. He will just love it. As for the football set, wow!! It will be his most treasured possession. Your box will bring so much happiness. Well done Jordan!!! We thank you again Berni and Dougie.
2009: Another outstanding donor is - Captain Richard Cusworth of the 158 (Royal Anglian) Tpt Regt RLC (V) In fact, all the guys are brilliant. Captain Cusworth has been just wonderful. I sent him a list of what we are looking for and then he organised collection from 5 different barracks. He arranged for storage space for us and offered to help any way they can. They are all a credit to the TA. Well done Guys! We are so lucky to have Captain Cusworth and his men helping us. Thank you to Richard, his superiors and all the soldiers and their families for all your donations, we appreciate this very much. Berni & Dougie.
2009:Our thanks also to Miss Coco Fitzgerald-Bevington a 14 year old girl from Cornwall, who organised a fashion charity event for the Balvan Orphange recently. Coco decided she wanted to donate some of the proceeds to the Dimcho in Silistra. We are really greatful and want to say a huge thanks and well done to Coco for your kind and thoughtful donation. You are a little superstar. Berni & Dougie.2009/10 We have letters of thanks from the Silistra Hospital, the Home for the Elderly and the various Orphanages, the Disability Day Centre, the Mayor of Silsitra and various other organisation some of which are posted on here. Every organisation wanted to say thanks to us and our British friends for all the support we all gave them over the last 3 years and naturally they hope we will continue. Each year we get bigger and better and more organisations are added to our cause.
