There will be some gorgeous homemade Bulgarian bread rounds too

Now we have to fundraise for these beds we will be doing this at the ‘Silistra Orphanage Garden Party’ on Sat 6th October 2012. We have prepared a chart which contains squares, each square is numbered. The idea is, you can buy a whole square which represents one complete single bed at £135 or two squares will be one full set of bunk beds, or you can donate what you can to a square. When we have sufficient funds to fill a square we move to the next one and so on. Every person who donates will have their name printed beside the numbered square. This will then be typed up and added to the chart. When the chart is full all the beds have been bought and we will hang this chart on the wall of the Orphanage to show how generous our sponsor have been.

Our new Orphanage Malek Preslavetz Project ‘Knitting for Winter’
I have a plan that would love to get operational for the winter months. As you all know the Dimcho is our main orphanage along with the Baby orphanage/medical centre in Silistra. We also have several other organisations we help in Silistra and round Bulgaria, 12 in total. This year our friends Mike & Jerry informed us of a new orphanage just outside Silistra called The Malek Preslavetz. Funds raised at their Danube trip was donated to Malek to provide clothing for the children. We also brought them box and boxes of goods for the children on our Sept trip..
Dougie and myself Berni visited them and distributed the goods along with 16 shoeboxes ready for Santa to deliver :0) This is a small group of 16 children aged between 3 and 10 years old although at the moment, the children are mostly aged between 5 and 8 and mostly boys.
Dougie and I have already agreed that we will take on this orphanage Malek as one of our project and help where we can. As you know our cause is NOT to provide money but to provide essentials such as clothing, shoes, toiletries, linen, toys filled shoe boxes treats such as sweets, biscuits cake etc. The director has given us a list of items they need which you can find on the Malek Preslavets page
So the plan is to ask your lovely ladies in Bulgaria to help us with knitting. Necessity things like scarves, hats, gloves for now then we can donate them to the Malek orphanage. I already have two ladies Christine Griffin from Kochmar village and Sue Parker from Dobrich who will be happy to co ordinate this project from their areas. So what we need from you guys as follows:
1) Volunteer knitters,
2) Donation of wool
3) Volunteers who will place a box in an areas where people can leave wool donations, ie a Community hall, a shop or a bar.
So now I just need the volunteers and the wool donations. If you can help, please contact myself, Sue or Christine if you are in their area. Thank you so much we really appreciate your support.
