 BUNK BED APPEAL

berni-bunks-new

Hi Guys
UPDATE:     As of today 16.9.12 - 10 Bunk Beds have now been sponsored

RE: ‘The Bunk Bed Appeal’ for the Silistra Orphanage
Well we are delighted to tell you we have now appointed our carpenter to make the 20 sets of ‘Bunk Beds’ we need for the Dimcho Delelianov Orphanage in Silistra.

We are very happy to announce that have appointed David Skynes to make these bunk beds. David has said he can make the 40 bunk beds, to British Standards, include 2 drawer space on each set of bunks, include the mattresses, deliver and install at stages as agreed.

Now we have to fundraise for these beds we will be doing this at the ‘Silistra Orphanage Garden Party’ on Sat 6th October 2012. We have prepared a chart which contains squares, each square is numbered. The idea is, you can buy a whole square which represents one complete single bed at £135 or two squares will be one full set of bunk beds, or you can donate what you can to a square. When we have sufficient funds to fill a square we move to the next one and so on. Every person who donates will have their name printed beside the numbered square. This will then be typed up and added to the chart. When the chart is full all the beds have been bought and we will hang this chart on the wall of the Orphanage to show how generous our sponsor have been.

11th August 2012  The Secret Garden 'High Tea Event

I am so excited I can hardly type: I have only just got home from work and found this wonderful message stating a MASSIVE amount of 600.31lve has been raised this = £241 a truly amazing amount, I am flabbergasted stuck for words - believe me that is a first for me.

PHEW!!! what can I say apart from THANK YOU Joanne, Irene Dave and Nigel and all the family for donating your first High Tea Party funds to the Silistra Orphanage Bunk Bed Appeal. Also to all you lovely people who traveled for miles and miles to support them. We are just amazed at your generosity thanks a million times over you ALL did a fantastic job and this amount will almost buy a set of bunk beds set. Fab!!

I would like to say we met Joanna & Irene and their husbands at our Silistra Garden Party last year and again at a friends house a week later. We talked for hours and Joanna and Irene continued to say they wish to help raise funds for our cause.
Just for the record, all these lovely people in Bulgaria have nothing what so ever to do with our orphanage which is a UK based charity, all they ever wanted to do was to help us and raise funds, like last year Sue, Dave & Friends Mike & Jerry they all put on events to raised funds for the Orphanage when needed. Christine & Lester are doing bootsale in BG. Again, this was all their own decision and they did all the work and then donated the funds to us. Thank you all so much you are just AMAZING!!

When we were told of their plans, needless to say we were delighted and very happy to help promote their events through our media contacts including our wonderful circle of friends at TrustGlobal Radio who have always been there to support us along with Cindy/Kate and the team at Anglo-Info, Darren & Denise at Quest. We are truly blessed to have found such wonderful supporters and to think that Dougie and I only met these people for a few hours amazing!

Thank you a million times Joanna & Irene & your families we are overwhelmed at your generosity.
Berni & Dougie xx

Our new Orphanage Malek Preslavetz Project ‘Knitting for Winter’

I have a plan that would love to get operational for the winter months. As you all know the Dimcho is our main orphanage along with the Baby orphanage/medical centre in Silistra. We also have several other organisations we help in Silistra and round Bulgaria, 12 in total. This year our friends Mike & Jerry informed us of a new orphanage just outside Silistra called The Malek Preslavetz. Funds raised at their Danube trip was donated to Malek to provide clothing for the children. We also brought them box and boxes of goods for the children on our Sept trip..

Dougie and myself Berni visited them and distributed the goods along with 16 shoeboxes ready for Santa to deliver :0) This is a small group of 16 children aged between 3 and 10 years old although at the moment, the children are mostly aged between 5 and 8 and mostly boys.

Dougie and I have already agreed that we will take on this orphanage Malek as one of our project and help where we can. As you know our cause is NOT to provide money but to provide essentials such as clothing, shoes, toiletries, linen, toys filled shoe boxes treats such as sweets, biscuits cake etc. The director has given us a list of items they need which you can find on the Malek Preslavets page

So the plan is to ask your lovely ladies in Bulgaria to help us with knitting. Necessity things like scarves, hats, gloves for now then we can donate them to the Malek orphanage. I already have two ladies Christine Griffin from Kochmar village and Sue Parker from Dobrich who will be happy to co ordinate this project from their areas. So what we need from you guys as follows:

1) Volunteer knitters,

2) Donation of wool

3) Volunteers who will place a box in an areas where people can leave wool donations, ie a Community hall, a shop or a bar.

So now I just need the volunteers and the wool donations. If you can help, please contact myself, Sue or Christine if you are in their area. Thank you so much we really appreciate your support.

Berni & Dougie.xx
