Bernie & Dougie

bd new

We, Berni and Dougie are the organisers and co-ordinators based in Peterborough, UK. We set up the Bulgarian Orphanage Appeal and manage everything ourselves. We have a few good volunteers who help with collecting goods and bag packing when they can. We aim to make one delivery each year to the Orphanages and various organisations in Bulgaria.

Diane

Diane joined us in 2012. She decided she wanted to help us by buying items that she could fit into suitcases and take to Sunny Beach Bulgaria for our fun day held at the Hotel Delta Beach. Diane was attracted to this task like a bee to honey and she was determined to pack what she could into her 2 overloaded suitcases. She and her 12 year daughter Tyra shopped until they could not fit any more into the bags. Diane is fully committed to helping us where she can and so is her daughter Tyra. This is indeed wonderful because Diane live in Belgium. She is an amazing lady and the first person to come forward to offer support. She is also trying to get support from her friends in Belgium with items to help the children. Thank you Diane and Tyra we are privileged to have you both on our team.

Emma

Joined us in April 2010. She donated some goods herself from her own two children under 5. When she found out about our cause she soon found herself smitten and was delighted to be able to help where she could.

Emma now manages the Netmums/Freegels sites for requesting. collecting, sorting and delivering of the goods and then brings them to us for grouping and packing.Emma is very committed to her tasks. Emma and the children love helping us. Her ambition is to visit the Silistra Orphanages with her own family when they are older

Margaret

meet team margaret

Margaret is our friend and the accountant. Margaret donated some goods to us back in 2009. She has been bringing goods from her family and friends every since. She also fills several shoeboxes each year for the older children. Margaret is a lovely person and always willing to help where she can, in fact it was Margaret who first introduced us to knitting, with the Easter chicks and from these little chicks, we now have a host of knitters. Margaret also volunteers to do our accounts every year. We are so lucky to have her on board.

Kate

kate ellrery

Kate joined us early in 2011 as one of our knitters but then she decided that she would also like to start collecting items for us herself. She delivers a car load every so often. So for the 2012 trip she has collected and delivered 3 car loads already. Kate is truly smitten, she loves being able to help with whatever we do, even the bag packing. Kate wants to go to the Orphanage for the next Garden Party and spend some time with the children. Kate is a fantastic lady and is always thinking of new ways to support us. We are truly blessed she found us.
